When prepping food, clean surfaces thoroughly after each time when using the surface.  NEVER use any scouring cleansers on naturally porous Wood.  After cleaning each time make sure to dry countertop with a towel or soft cloth.  If maintained with TLC, your Butcher Block Countertops will be cherished and enjoyed providing years of pleasure for amateur and professional Chefs. Oils:  When using Countertop for food preparation various oils are known to work best. Recommended Oils & Treatments (Daily cleaning & care recommended) Mineral & Walnut Oil Beeswax and Butcher Block Wax are also good for daily treatment Simple Green is very good or mild soaps, dish detergents & water will clean surface Non-toxic oils can be used for general maintenance.  Non-toxic oils are easily available at stores and online Some people highly recommend for daily cleaning:  1 part white vinegar and 3 parts water For removing stains, fresh lemon juice can work. Just moisten for a few seconds Hardwood countertops used for food prep can have penetrating oil finishes.  If wood begins to dry out or the wood’s color starts to get lighter, use and apply non-toxic oil, formulated for use in Kitchens. Our sealed, stunning Butcher Blocks are easy to clean and maintain but should not be used for cutting.  Cutlery can scratch the finish, leaving marks that can be hard to sand away.  Sealed Butcher Block Countertops keep a consistent appearance for long periods and can be resistant to water. Notes/ Comments:  Unfinished Oil finished Butcher Block Countertops:  The raw wood is rubbed with oil to seal moisture in and to protect the wood.  Stains, scratches, etc. from food prep can be removed easily by sanding block.  It’s simple to sand the stain away, then rub in a drop or two of oil to reinvigorate the look and feel.  Unsealed butcher blocks can warp or turn black from too much water.
