Recommended Oils & Treatments (Daily cleaning & care recommended) Mineral & Walnut Oil Beeswax and Butcher Block Wax are also good for daily treatment Simple Green is very good or mild soaps, dish detergents & water will clean surface Non-toxic oils can be used for general maintenance. Non-toxic oils are easily available at stores and online Some people highly recommend for daily cleaning: 1 part white vinegar and 3 parts water For removing stains, fresh lemon juice can work. Just moisten for a few seconds Hardwood countertops used for food prep can have penetrating oil finishes. If wood begins to dry out or the wood’s color starts to get lighter, use and apply non-toxic oil, formulated for use in Kitchens. Stains, scratches, etc. from food prep can be removed easily by sanding block. It’s simple to sand the stain away, then rub in a drop or two of oil to reinvigorate the look and feel. Unsealed butcher blocks can warp or turn black from too much water.
